The three layers
A 3-layer ventilated suit is built from two outer mesh fabrics with an open, springy middle layer between them. That structure does two jobs at once — airflow and protection.

How it keeps you cool

How it stops stings
The middle gap holds the outer surface a few millimetres off your skin. A bee's stinger simply can't reach through that space, so the thick 3-layer sandwich usually resists stings better than thin single-layer cotton — provided the suit fits snugly so there are no gaps.
